ANTI Records has just reissued the last three Neko Case studio LPs; Furnace Room Lullaby (2000), Blacklisted (2002), and Fox Confessor Brings the Flood (2006). In light of Fox Confessor’s increased Sound Scan numbers, the new version of the LP will come with a five track bonus disc comprised of a demo (see below) and two tracks each off of the album’s two predecessors. This is ostensibly an appeal to draw in new fans who may not be aware of Case’s, quality, back catalog. If this move works, I would not be surprised to see it done with other crossover artists, e.g. Cat Power’s The Greatest.
Also: If you’re a Neko fan, check out this video of “Furnace Room Lullaby” that was shot for the soundtrack to the 2000 film “The Gift,” starring Cate Blanchett and written by Billy Bob Thornton.
